History of the La Galleria dell'Accademia

Born in 1562 from the will of the Medici to found an academy of drawing, the institution evolved to become a major public exhibition venue. The transfer to the current buildings on Ricasoli street took place in 1784, consolidating its status as a temple of visual arts.
